Quality day in the field

Back to work tmw so a long day in the field today was in order, obviously starting on the patch! First hour was quality with cracking views of a hunting female Merlin, 2 Scaup, male Smew and a total 18 Curlew west. even managed this of the Smew!

Then nipped into In-Focus for a tripod repair (cheers Dave) before heading to Langsett. Had a great couple of hours here with 2 Goshawks displaying over the America Plantation in the only sunny spell of the day! this was backed up with 3+ Sprawks, Buzzard, displaying Red Grouse, Curlew,Snipe and Lapwing with lots of Siskin and Fieldfare in evidence also.

A quick blast through the Dearne Valley was fairly unproductive but for a couple of Little Egrets on Old Moor and a lovely big flock of Golden Plover on the fantastic looking Edderthorpe Flash along with 4 Dunlin.

Stopped in at Anglers CP next and quickly picked up the American Wigeon feeding on the grass in front of the hide so nipped round to grab a couple more dodgy pics!

Last stop was back at the mighty Pugneys to check the non-existent Gull roost but did see the 2 Scaup again on the Motorway Pool - the pic below is courtesy of M.Hemingway.

Alli in all a pretty awesome day - defo beats working for a living!!

Spring is springing!

Quiet on the patch today although still Smew on main lake and the SEO on the wetlands. Lots of stuff singing and generally getting giddy about the chance of impending nookie.

Also still 2 Scaup on Millfield Lagoon.

In other news i used the new camera and memory card for first time today and the young lady that sold it me on e-bay had kindly forgotten to delete 2 videos of her giving her chap "oral pleasure" !! RESULT!

So, trying to get the hang of this blogging business and my 25 year old Computer Studies 'o' level is not really cutting it but i shall persevere!

Meanwhile today at Pugneys was fairly steady. the drake Smew still on the boating lake playing with the lady Goldeneye and the SEO still at roost over the road (not advertised due to photographer pressure!).2 Curlew west and 4 Oycs were spring indicators but highlight of the day was the re-appearance of the 2nd yr Y L Gull. even took some crap pics and then did this sketch like a proper birder shud.

I am now a blogger!

Hope to put something of mild interest to at least me on here soon!!

till then....keep birdin!
